Simone Biles Brother Tevin Biles-Thomas Arrested For Triple Murder
While Simone Biles is making history, her brother is being accused of a triple murder. Tevin Biles-Thomas, who is currently on active duty in the Army, was taken into custody Thursday at Fort Stewart in Georgia. He’s being held at Liberty County Jail in Hinesville, Georgia.
He allegedly shot and killed three people and injured two others at an Airbnb on New Year’s Eve.
The Cleveland Division of Police and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office released a joint statement and said an “uninvited group” came into the Airbnb property and
“an altercation ensued.”
Biles-Thomas allegedly opened fire shortly after. The suspects all ran away from the area and there weren’t any weapons recovered.
Three men, Delvante Johnson, 19, Toshaun Banks, 21 and Devaughn Gibson, 23, died as a result. Johnson and Banks died right away while Gibson later died at the hospital. A woman also received treatment at the hospital but her identity was not known.
Biles-Thomas was charged with six counts of murder, three counts of voluntary manslaughter, five counts of felonious assault and one count of perjury.
Michael C. O’Malley, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, also released a statement and applauded the police for the eight-month investigation.
“The relentless persistence of Cleveland Police Homicide detectives helped secure an indictment in this case. It is through their hard work that we can begin to seek justice for these victims.”
It’s not clear what led to his arrest.
Biles-Thomas’s arraignment is scheduled for September 13 in Cleveland.
Biles has not spoken publicly about her brother’s arrest.
