Idris Elba Slams Cardi B’s Theory That Celebs Are Paid For Coronavirus Results: Absolute Bullsh*t!
Actor Idris Elba is firing back on claims he and other celebs are cashing in on positive COVID-19 (coronavirus) test results.
As previously reported, Grammy winner Cardi B recently took to Instagram Live on Thursday (March 20th), revealing her conspiracy theory claiming that celebrities are getting paid to say they have the virus.

Fast forward to Tuesday (March 24th), Idris Elba, 47, who recently revealed that he tested positive for the disease, shut down any confusion he was paid to announce his Coronavirus results. He said,
“I think the negativity around ‘test shaming’ is counterproductive. I don’t see what people get out of that. Also this idea that someone like myself is going to be paid to say I’ve got coronavirus, that’s, like, absolute bulls—, such stupidness.”

He continued,
“People want to spread that as if it’s news. It’s stupid. It’s the quickest way to get people sick that way. There’s no benefit to me and Sabrina sitting here saying we’ve got it or we ain’t got it. I don’t even understand the logic of that.”
The actor revealed to the world that he contracted the Coronavirus after being exposed by someone who also tested positive earlier this month.

Since coming forward, Idris has continued to update and slam false claims about the pandemic. He recently addressed the speculation on theories that black people were allegedly immune to the virus.
“Please stop sending the conspiracy theory nonsense about black people not being able to get coronavirus or COVID-19. It’s dumb, it’s silly, it’s very dangerous… Now is not the time. If you’re sending that stuff out or manifesting it, it’s not the time. People need to know facts, they need to know the truth so they can protect themselves.”

In addition, Idris’s wife Sabrina Dhowre, also tested positive for the coronavirus just days after revealing his results. On Saturday (March 21st), Sabrina Dhowre along with Idris opened up to media mogul Oprah Winfrey on their coronavirus test. She said,
“Actually, I found out this morning, Oprah, that I tested positive. I’m not surprised. As soon as I heard that Idris was potentially exposed I was on my way anyway and I wanted to be with him. I think that’s an instinct as a wife you just want to go and take care. We didn’t change the way we interacted.“
She added,
“I could have made a decision to put myself in a separate room or maybe stay away. I’m sure people are making those decisions, they’re tough decisions to make. But I made the decision to want to be with him and still touch him.”
Idris explained,
“On the day of the exposure, we were together at home and had been together right until I had departed to fly. So at any point then, and prior to us knowing, if I’d caught it, she’d certainly have caught it in that time period as well.”
