Snoop Dogg Wants To Battle Jay-Z For Verzuz Showdown
One of the few good things to come out of many people being stuck at home due to the coronavirus pandemic is the creation of the Instagram live stream music battle series Verzuz.
Verzuz was created by rap artists and music producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. Since its start, we have seen top musical celebrities go head to head against one another as they play their best hits. Just recently the two music legends brought us the iconic battle between Erykah Badu and Jill Scott.
Verzuz has become a huge hit and American rap artist Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Broadus Jr., is calling next. In a recent live stream video with rapper Fat Joe, born Joseph Cartagena, Snoop Dogg said that if he battles anyone on Verzuz he feels that it should be Jay Z.
“Biggie passed away and then Nas had it for a minute. And then Jay-Z took it and ran with it for numerous amounts of years. And then 50 Cent came and ran with it for numerous amounts of years. This is me looking in from the outside, looking at New York rap. So to me, it’s either Snoop or Jay Z. Because he’s been the king of New York around the time I was the king of the west.”
Fat Joe agreed with Snoop Dogg. However, he said that he’s unsure if Jay-Z would agree to do a Verzuz battle with anyone.
“That sounds like the ultimate battle! Snoop Dogg against Jay-Z. Now I don’t know if Jay-Z would do it because he’s kind of like Dr. Dre. Jay-Z, we love him but Jay-Z is an introvert, quiet, you know what I mean. But Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z – and I know taking nothing away from 50. I just know that when your boat goes down and you gotta swim ashore, it’s a long swim, you understand what I’m saying?”

Both Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z began their rap careers in the ’90s and both artists have sold millions of albums worldwide. While Jay-Z has more than 20 Grammy wins Snoop Dogg currently has more than 15 nominations, but no wins yet. During his live stream with Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg said if he does battle Jay-Z the first song he’s playing is his song Deep Cover.
Snoop’s hope to one day battle Jay-Z comes just after DMX said he wanted to challenge the “Song Cry” rapper as well.
