Kobe Bryant’s Wife Vanessa Inherits Late NBA Legend’s $200 Million Stake In BodyArmor Sports Drink
Vanessa Bryant, the widow of late NBA great Kobe Bryant is now a stakeholder for the sports drink, BodyArmor.
Kobe Bryant first invested in BodyArmor in March 2013 for $5 million and gained a 10 percent stake in the company. The Los Angeles Lakers icon also became a brand ambassador for the company, which is set to break through the $1 billion mark this year for the first time since its inception. Kobe served on the board of directors and supervised the advertising campaigns. He was the fourth-largest shareholder at the time of his untimely passing.
The CocaCola company bought a minority stake in BodyArmor, bringing the value of the company to $2 billion, and making Kobe Bryant’s share worth at least $200 million.
In light of his shocking passing, Vanessa Bryant has now inherited his stake and assumed his seat on the board of directors.
Kobe and his daughter Gigi Bryant, 13, were two of seven passengers who tragically died in a Calabasas, Calif. helicopter crash on Jan. 26. An autopsy was conducted on the pilot Ara Zobayan, and showed that he did not have any drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the crash. The deputy medical examiner has said that it is likely that Kobe, Ara Zobayan, and the 7 others in the crash died instantly upon impact due to blunt trauma.
