While leaving the court, Serena Williams put her hand over her heart and was asked during a post-game press conference if that was her way of saying goodbye to the game for good.
She told reporters,
“I don’t know. If I ever say farewell, I wouldn’t tell anyone.”
She was also asked about the loss and whether she would chalk it up to “a bad day at the office.” She appeared to fight back tears and said,
“I don’t know.”
She then stood up and told the audience, “I’m done” before walking out of the room.
Naomi Osaka showed love to her former mentor Kobe Bryant as she spoke on advancing to the finals during her post-game press conference.
