Diddy Explains His Controversial Remarks About Sha’Carri Richardson’s Olympic Suspension & Continues To Show Support Towards Her
Diddy clarifies his message about Sha’Carri Richardson as he continues to send support her way. As previously reported, many people were shocked when news broke that track and field sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson would not be competing in this year’s Olympics after testing positive for marijuana. Initially, following the failed drugged test, the 21-year-old Olympic hopeful was suspended from competing in the 100 meters race but she was still expected to be part of the United States’ 4×100 team at the Tokyo Olympics. However, Olympics officials ultimately decided that Sha’Carri Richardson would be sitting the 2021Olympics out entirely.

Following this announcement, multiple people came forward and expressed their support for Sha’Carri Richardson, including music/business mogul Diddy. The ‘Bad Boy For Life’ rapper released a statement voicing his solidarity with Richardson. In it he said,
“I’m tired of white people sitting in a room and making up decisions that affect our hopes and dreams. They will keep treating our athletes like slaves and entertainment until we shut down on these people.”

Some were upset by what Diddy had to say, causing him to release another statement further explaining his point of view. He said,
“To be absolutely clear about my previous tweet, the point I’m making is that marijuana has been used against my people since some white people in an office (DEA/FBI) saw it a way to entrap Black Jazz artists to shut down the movement happening in Harlem.”
He added,
“Now to see them using this against a young Black woman that is on the edge of her greatness, all because some white men decided to make it illegal is shameful.”
