Fat Joe Says Ja Rule ‘Was The Drake Before Drake’: You Had Hit After Hit
Was Ja Rule the Drake of his era?
This past Wednesday night (Sept. 15th)–just one day after their Verzuz battle–Fat Joe and Ja Rule jumped on Instagram Live together. During the joint IG Live, Fat Joe notably claimed Ja Rule was similar to Drake during his prime! He stated:
“Bro, no disrespect to your hip hop roots, [but] you’re a pop star! I always tell everybody you was the Drake before Drake. You had hit after hit after hit after hit.”
Ja Rule immediately responded by giving Drake his flowers, saying:
“I ain’t gon’ lie, Drizzy the GOAT. Drizzy the GOAT, man. Drizzy one of them GOATs. Drizzy one of the GOATs.”
Fat Joe then said:
“He’s the GOAT. We’re not gonna compare. But what I’m saying is, for the youth who’s tuned in, they don’t realize that this guy Ja Rule had a run like Drake for years. Just hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, hit.”
Drake has not publicly responded to Fat Joe‘s statement or Ja Rule‘s praise.
Fat Joe‘s comments come as 45-year-old Ja Rule celebrates a successful career in the music industry. Throughout the early 2000s, Ja Rule released numerous hit songs, such as “Between Me & You,” “Put It On Me,” and “Always On Time.”
