LeBron James – Principal Of NBA Star’s School Resigns After Allegedly Smacking An 11-Year-Old Child
The principal at LeBron James‘ I Promise School has officially stepped down as she continues to face controversy.
Back in 2018, LeBron James opened up the I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. As the institution opened its doors, Brandi Davis–an educator who worked with Akron Public Schools for over 20 years, according to MadameNoire–was appointed as its first principal.
However, earlier this year, Brandi Davis found herself at the center of controversy. Back in Sept., she was formally accused of smacking an 11-year-old student across the face and giving the child a busted lip.
According to the child’s mother, Brandi Davis approached her son and a group of friends while in the lunch line to ask them about a mess they allegedly left in a restroom. After her son allegedly described the mess by using profanity, Davis “just reacted and slapped him.”
After the incident, Brandi Davis allegedly texted the child’s mother about what had occurred, and an investigation into the incident soon followed as she was placed on paid administrative leave. A statement on the matter was also released by the I Promise School shortly thereafter, which read:
“We are family, and that means we support every one of our I PROMISE educators, students, and family members through anything they may be going through. In this and in every case, we will always do everything we can to make sure all are loved and supported during these times as we learn and grow as a family.”
Now, there has been an update to the matter, as Brandi Davis recently resigned amid the accusations that she busted a 6th grader’s lip. It’s also worth noting that the investigation into the situation is still ongoing, and Davis could potentially face more repercussions in terms of her licensing once the matter concludes.
