NFL Star Jeff Gladney & His Girlfriend Die In Car Accident, Police Say Speed Was A Factor [Condolences]
Very sad news. Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney died early Monday morning (May 30) in a car accident in Dallas, Texas at the age of 25.
According to reports, the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. local time. Investigators believe one vehicle was speeding and clipped a second vehicle from behind. The speeding vehicle then lost control and crashed into a pier beam. Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived at the scene to find Gladney’s white Mercedes SUV overturned in a grassy area. Sadly, Jeff Gladney’s girlfriend, Mercedes Palacios, 26, was also with him and died in the collision. The two unidentified passengers in the other car did not suffer any major injury, according to police.
Jeff Gladney was a father to his two-year-old son Kingston, which he had from a previous relationship.

Authorities are waiting on a medical examiner to officially confirm the identities of the victims, but the Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings and numerous teammates and former teammates have confirmed Jeff Gladney was killed.
Gladney’s former team, the Minnesota Viking released a statement:
“Our hearts go out to his family and friends, as well as the Arizona Cardinals organization and Jeff’s current and former teammates and coaches who are mourning his life lost much too soon.”

Gladney’s current team, Arizona Cardinals said they are devastated by tragic loss. Their statement reads,
“We are devastated to learn of Jeff Gladney’s passing. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and all who are mourning this tremendous loss.”
Jeff Gladney played college football for the TCU Horned Frogs before being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. He was released in August 2021 following an indictment on a domestic violence charge. Gladney was acquitted in March of this year, and was signed by the Cardinals that same month.
