Today (Jan. 18) the Songwriters Hall of Fame announced its 2023 inductees at the 52nd Annual Induction and Awards Gala. The list includes R&B/jazz artist Sade Adu, new jack swing legend Teddy Riley, and iconic rapper Snoop Dogg! Others who made the cut this year are Gloria Estefan – reportedly the first Hispanic woman to achieve the honor – Electric Light Orchestra’s Jeff Lynne, Glen Ballard, and Taylor Swift’s co-writer Liz Rose.
According to reports, Snoop Dogg is making history as the 5th hip-hop act or artist inducted. Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri, Missy Elliott, and The Neptunes’ Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo were previously welcomed into the prestigious club. It’s safe to say that Snoop Dogg is excited about his latest accomplishment. The rapper shared multiple posts expressing how “honored” he is to be inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame.


In a video shared via his IG account, he also mentioned his dream of collaborating with fellow inductee Sade. In part, he said,
“And just to think, I’ve been telling people for the past 7 years [when asked] ‘who you want to do a song with Snoop?’ I’d always say Sade [and] now we going into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame on the same day.”
Teddy Riley also took to his socials to share his appreciation. He wrote,
“As always, I am so grateful to the most high. I didn’t know how big this is, until I woke up this morning to so many congrats. I wanna thank you all for your contribution and support to my career. This wouldn’t be what it is without you all!! Most of all, I want to thank my mother for my existence, and always supporting me through my trials and tribulations! I love you all & thank you for another celebratory moment!!”
