Tristan Thompson Pens Emotional Tribute & Apology Letter To His Late Mother: You Raised Me Better Than I Was Able To Show You
Tristan Thompson is remembering his mother for the bright soul that she was, and he’s vowing to keep her light alive.
As previously reported, last month, Tristan Thompson’s mother, Andrea, suddenly passed away from a heart attack at her Toronto home.
This past Sunday (Feb. 5) marked the one-month anniversary of her tragic death, and Tristan Thompson took to his Instagram to mourn the unbearable loss.
In the lengthy post, which accompanied a carousel of family photos, the NBA star issued a posthumous apology to his angel and opened up about the overwhelming agony that followed her demise.
Thompson emotionally wrote:
“Dearest mommy in heaven, it has been one month since you’ve been gone. I’m in disbelief. I’m in the deepest part of sorrow & grief. My soul is empty as I come to terms that my biggest supporter/superhero is gone. I cannot thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, being one of God’s warriors, fighting back with whatever the world threw our way. You constantly protected us through prayer. My hero you fought all the battles you needed to and it was time for you to go home.”
He continued, celebrating the late Andrea for the part that she played in his life and the lives of his siblings: Dishawn, Daniel, and Amari.
“Mommy I know you’re watching down on me; I wanna say thank you for picking me as your son. You dedicated ur life to ur boys & the church. Prayed & fasted for family/friends because you [knew] how evil this world is. Mommy, all the sacrifices you did for ur sons will never go unnoticed or without appreciation. You were an amazing mommy, role model, best friend & the strongest woman I know.”
Later in the tear-jerking note, the 31-year-old publicly promised to make her pride from above his priority and recalled the humiliation that his viral actions brought to his mother and his family.
He added,
“I know you’re here as I write this letter. All I can say is, I’m sorry mommy for the wrong decisions I’ve made in my life. I’m sorry for the embarrassment & pain. You raised me better than what I was able to show you. But I have also learned sorry is not enough. Actions speak louder than words. so I won’t just say sorry. Stay tuned to the ways I will show the world what an amazing son you raised. I will show you even when we fall & make mistakes, we get back up. You are my motivation.”
Thompson concluded his message by vowing to look after his little brother, Amari, who suffers from epilepsy, which is a nerve disorder that affects the brain and causes seizures.
Upon the passing of Thompson’s mother, Khloé Kardashian rushed to Canada to mourn with her children’s father. The two share a four-year-old daughter and a months-old son, who was welcomed via surrogate last year.
We send our deepest thoughts and prayers out to the family of Andrea Thompson.
