According to RadarOnline, the plaintiff is a man named Eduardo Andres Torres Martinez. The victim reportedly claims in the suit, filed on Tuesday (January 16th), that he was dining at a Yard House in Los Angeles on February 10th, 2022 when Floyd Mayweather and his entourage entered the establishment. A commotion subsequently ensued as diners recognized the celeb and flocked to him for autographs and pictures. During this time, Martinez says he took out his phone and began recording before Mayweather noticed he was filming. Martinez says the athlete then signaled his bodyguard to “handle” him, entangling him and the bodyguard in a battle for his phone. Reportedly, in his suit, the plaintiff claims the hired protector:
“negligently, carelessly, intentionally, maliciously and/or physically touched, struck, and/or hit [Martinez] by striking”

According to the alleged victim, he suffered injuries as a result of the scuffle. In addition to Mayweather, he placed blame on the restaurant’s security for not preventing the exchange from happening. He is reportedly suing for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, as well as general negligence.
In his argument for compensation, Martinez claims that he’s endured “severe and permanent past, present and future physical and bodily injuries,” and has also racked up a significant medical debt. Additionally, he reportedly says that the altercation has taken a mental toll on him, and allegedly has caused “severe mental suffering, anguish, anxiety, humiliation, and emotional distress”.

At the time of the incident, Martinez reportedly immediately filed a police report, accusing Mayweather of battery. However, authorities decided not to pursue charges due to lack of evidence, as well as a witness reportedly giving a statement contradictory to what Martinez initially reported. For Mayweather’s part, reports state that he and his attorneys have denied any altercation ever took place. His rep says that the celeb did, in fact, go to Yard House, but left shortly after because the place was too crowded. The amount Martinez is suing for has not been disclosed. A judge has not ruled on the matter at this time.
