Update: TLC Shares T-Boz Is ‘Just Fine’ As They Address Concerns From Fans That Their Australia Tour Was Cancelled Due To Singer’s Health

Update: (Jan. 22, 2024): T-Boz is doing great!

Last week news broke that TLC’s Australia/New Zealand tour alongside En Vogue and Busta Rhymes was canceled. The statement shared to TLC’s official Instagram page didn’t reveal why exactly the tour was axed but that didn’t stop fans from speculating that it had something to do with Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins’ health. For those who may be unaware, the singer was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia when she was younger.

Thankfully, T-Boz recently shared that the cancelation had nothing to do with her well-being. In a comment left under a post about her fans’ concerns on our Instagram page, she wrote,

“Thx but I’m JUST FINE!!! Great actually! Just bcuz I hv Sockle cell doesn’t mean I’m SICK all the time!!! My name was no where in that article! It was for business reasons ONLY!”

Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas left a comment of her own backing her group member. She wrote,

“Tionne is not sick..she’s doing great! And we’re excited about our tour in Japan, March 16th”

Original Story: (Jan. 19, 2024): Australian fans of 90s R&B group TLC will have to wait a little longer to see the singers live.

The girl group’s official Instagram page recently shared a post that revealed the duo, made of Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas and Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins, has canceled their forthcoming tour, and many are hoping it isn’t due to health complications.

In the message announcing the shows’ cancellations, TLC’s Instagram page shared:

“To our incredible Australian and New Zealand fans, with heavy hearts, we regret to announce the cancellation of our upcoming tour,”

Adding:

“Unforeseen circumstances have made it impossible to proceed, and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment. to our fans. Your support means everything, and we promise to make it up to you. We can’t wait to be back in your beautiful countries soon. Thank you for your understanding and love”

TLC: “We’re clear TLC ain’t the same since Lisa died”

At this time, specific details about what ultimately caused the concert series to be postponed have not been shared publicly. TLC was reportedly scheduled to kick off the tour in March, making stops in Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth. Their fellow 90s girl group En Vogue was reportedly set to join them, as well as hip-hop vet Busta Rhymes. Neither of their official accounts, however, have yet to acknowledge the cancellation of the shows.

Reportedly, the tour was meant to be a 30th-anniversary celebration of TLC’s 1994 chart-topper “CrazySexyCool,” the record that launched them to stardom. The music set was allegedly going to include songs from the award-winning group’s decades-long career. When the show was first announced, Chilli reportedly shared her enthusiasm, writing in a social media post:

“I’m so excited to return to Australia! This is the album that put us on the map with Aussie fans and showed the world who we really are. And to mark 30 years, this will be quite the celebration!”

No matter the reason for the cancellation, TLC fans were sure to show their support. Many took to the comments section of the announcement, sending Chilli and T-boz well wishes and prayers that everyone is in good health, especially T-Boz. In case you’re unfamiliar, the entertainer was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia at a young age and frequently battles complications that stem from the condition. The ailment is a rare blood disorder that causes joint and muscle pain, infections, and severe fatigue. The 53-year-old has opened up about living with the disease previously and has gone on to become a national advocate for it.

Commenters shared their well wishes for T-Boz, though the singer herself has not alluded to her sickness being a factor in the recent postponement. Many also shared their excitement for when the group is finally able to make their Australia return.
