LSU Basketball Star Flau’Jae Says Boosie Will ‘Always Have My Respect’ After He Showed Up For Her When Her Father, Rapper Camoflauge, Was Fatally $hot In 2003: ‘Boosie Got A Heart Of Gold’
Boosie will always have a fan in Flau’Jae Johnson.
The LSU basketball star shared that the rapper showed up for her in a major way after her father passed away in 2003.
While on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay, she shared that her dad, rapper Camoflauge, was “respected” by other major rappers like Jeezy, Birdman, T.I., Rick Ross and Boosie. Camoflauge, 21, was $hot and k*lled in Savannah, Ga., outside of a studio 22 years ago.
“[Boosie] came and looked after me. If I ever needed anything … Boosie would come through. He always kept it a thousand. I used to go up to his mansion and play with his kids. … I never had a father figure. So just to see this man in this big old mansion, he got all his kids. … Boosie really showed me Black … excellence.”
Flau’Jae went on to address misconceptions about the “Wipe Me Down” rapper, adding that she,
“Can’t defend him all the time because he be saying some off-the-wall stuff. I just be like that’s my uncle, man.”
Still, she added:
“But what they don’t know is that man got a heart of gold. He’ll give you his shirt off his back. Heart of gold. And I seen that just off the strength of what he did for me.”
“You ain’t knew my dad for two weeks…and you came and you showed love and took care of me,” Flau’Jae said of Boosie, who later rapped about Camoflauge in his 2004 song “Goin Thru Some Thangs.”
In that song, Boosie says,
“And I ain’t gon’lie I don’t wanna be like Camoflauge / I met him one week, next week he died — I almost cried.”
Flau’Jae said Boosie will “always have my respect,” even if “if he is a little off the wall.”
