Michael Jackson – Radio Stations Ban Singer’s Music Over “Leaving Neverland” Docu
The curtain is being pulled on iconic singer Michael Jackson‘s music well after his death in 2009. According to E! Online, due to the shock and backlash of the “Leaving Neverland” documentary – stations in Canada and New Zealand have committed to wiping MJ’s catalog from their roster. MediaWorks radio director, Leon Wratt, said this:
“Michael Jackson isn’t currently on any MediaWorks Radio stations’ playlists. This is a reflection of our audiences and their preferences—it is our job to ensure our radio stations are playing the music people want to hear.”

Michael Jackson’s music is also being eliminated in Australia. According to reports, Nova Radio’s SmoothFM director confirmed that it’s because of “Leaving Neverland.” Paul Jackson released this short statement:
“In light of what is happening at the moment, SmoothFM is not currently playing any Michael Jackson songs.”
However, radio stations are still stepping in the name of love with R. Kelly despite the singer being arrested on aggravated sexual assault charges. In January, DJ Don King reported via Mediabase that R. Kelly still received significant radio play.
I just ran a 7-day report on Mediabase, which monitors radio stations around the country. Look at the R. Kelly songs still getting airplay. What are you program directors waiting for? It’s time to #MuteRKelly. pic.twitter.com/5msE3ljh5M
