Emmy Nominees Announced — Don Cheadle, Cicely Tyson, Jharrell Jerome, Viola Davis, Laverne Cox, Mahershala Ali, Billy Porter & More Nominated

The nominees for the 2019 Emmy Awards are in! And some of our faves made the cut.

Starting with Jharrel Jerome, who gave a tear-jerking performance to say the least in Netflix’s “When They See Us” as Korey Wise. Jerome is nominated for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. The film as a whole is also up for the Limited Series award.

Niecy Nash, who played Wise’s mother, Deloris, and Aunjanue Ellis, who played Yusef Salaam’s mother, Sharon are  nominated for Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie with Amy Adams (“Sharp Objects”), Patricia Arquette (“Escape at Dannemora”), Aunjanue Ellis (“When They See Us”), Joey King (“The Act”) and Michelle Williams (“Fosse/Verdon”).

Asante Blackk who played young Kevin Richardson, Michael K. Smith, who played Antron McCray’s father, and John Leguizamo who played Raymond Santana’s father are nominated for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series.

Mahershala Ali is also nominated for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie “True Detective” for his portrayal as Wayne Hays.

Benicio Del Toro of “Escape at Dannemora”, Hugh Grant of “A Very English Scandal”, Jared Harris of “Chernobyl” and Sam Rockwell of “Fosse/Verdon” are the other nominees in the category.

Sterling K. Brown is up for Lead Actor in a Drama Series thanks to his compelling role as Randall Pearson in NBC’s “This Is Us.”

Also nominated is his co-star Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack Pearson, Randall’s father in flashback scenes.

Billy Porter of “Pose” also got a nod!

Jason Bateman of “Ozark,” Kit Harington of “Game of Thrones” and Bob Odenkirk of “Better Call Saul” are also among the nominees for the category.

Viola Davis’s role as Annalise Keating in ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder” also earned her an Emmy nomination for Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

She’s going head-to-head with Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”), Laura Linney (“Ozark”), Mandy Moore (“This Is Us”), Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”), and Robin Wright (“House of Cards”).

Congrats are also in order for Don Cheadle, who’s up for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in “Black Monday” as Mo Monroe.

Anthony Anderson also got a nod for his role as the hilarious patriarch, Dre Johnson, in ABC’s Blackish.

Laverne Cox for “Orange Is The New Black” and Phylicia Rashad for “This Is Us” and Cicely Tyson for “How To Get Away With Murder” are nominated for Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Also nominated in that category are: Cherry Jones (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Jessica Lange (“American Horror Story: Apocalypse”) and Carice van Houten (“Game of Thrones”).

Maya Rudolph is nominated for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for “The Good Place.”

She’s up against: Jane Lynch (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Sandra Oh (“Saturday Night Live”), Kristin Scott Thomas (“Fleabag”), Fiona Shaw (“Fleabag”) and Emma Thompson (“Saturday Night Live”)

RuPaul is nominated for Host for a Reality or Competition Program for “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” The show is also nominated for Unstructured Reality TV Program.

Beyonce’s “Homecoming” and Wanda Sykes‘ “Not Normal” Netflix special is nominated for Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).

Also nominated in that category are: “Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool” (CBS), “Hannah Gadsby: Nanette” (Netflix) and “Springsteen On Broadway” (Netflix).

All In The Family and The Jeffersons special is nominated for Variety Special (Live).

Also nominated are: “The 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards” (NBC), “The 61st Grammy Awards” (CBS), “The Oscars” (ABC), “RENT” (Fox) and “72nd Annual Tony Awards” (CBS).

Lifetime’s “Surviving R. Kelly” is also nominated for Information Series or Special. The other nominees include: “Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown” (CNN),“Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee” (Netflix), “Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath” (A&E) and “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman” (Netflix).
