Daniel Craig Doesn’t Think New James Bond Should Be A Woman
While there is lots of chatter over who should be the next James Bond, the star who most currently holds the coveted role is setting a condition of his own.
Daniel Craig, who made his debut as James Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale, will end his 14-year run with No Time to Die, which is slated for an Oct. 8 release.
As Daniel Craig’s time with the franchise comes to an end, names like Idris Elba and breakout Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page have been thrown into the conversation as popular options to suit up for the role.

Now, Daniel Craig is offering his thoughts.
On whether a woman should take on the role, he said:
“Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?”
Daniel Craig’s opinion is similar to the franchise’s producer Barbara Broccoli who said last year,
“James Bond can be of any color, but he is male.”
She continued,
“I believe we should be creating new characters for women – strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”
Still, there’s talk that Lashana Lynch, who plays M16 agent Nomi in No Time To Die, could be the next James Bond.

In 2019, it was reported that she could be the first Black James Bond, as well as the first female.
