Riley Burruss Says Mom Kandi Burruss Can Now Focus On Her Goal Of Being An EGOT Winner Following Recent Departure From ‘RHOA’ After 14 Seasons: ‘Filming Reality TV Takes So Much Time & Commitment’
As you may know by now, singer, songwriter, and reality TV star, Kandi Burruss, recently announced her departure from the Bravo series “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Many fans of the show were left stunned by the news, especially because Kandi has been a part of “RHOA” since 2009, making her the longest-running housewife from not only the Atlanta branch but the entire “Real Housewives” franchise.
However, while fans of the show continue to cope with the shocking news, Kandi’s first-born, 21-year-old, Riley Burruss, appears to be quite excited about what’s to come. She recently posted a video on TikTok and shared her thoughts about her mom’s decision to end her run on “RHOA.”
When talking about Kandi’s long tenure as a reality TV personality, Riley stated,
“She’s had time to reflect and really realize she has all these amazing things coming, but filming reality TV takes so much time and commitment. You don’t really have time to explore other things when you’re doing it at the same time.”
While expressing how inspiring her mom’s great work ethic is to her, Riley said,
“She’s had so much stuff that she wanted to work on, but she feels always so committed to everything, which I love about her.”
She continued,
“She’s always wanted the EGOT, which takes a long time, of course, with different things under your belt.”
Kandi Burruss won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song back in 2000 for co-writing TLC’s monster-hit record “No Scrubs.” So, with the “G” having already been achieved, Kandi is now on the path to collecting the other most coveted awards in the Arts and Entertainment industry, which are the Emmy, Oscar, and Tony Awards.
Last year, she earned her first Tony and Emmy nominations, seemingly making it safe to say that she’s well on her way to bringing home the win next time and getting closer to her EGOT dreams!
In Riley’s brief TikTok post, she went on to refer to some of the drawbacks of growing up on reality TV. She reminded her followers that she accompanied her mom on the show since she was just six years old. However, she mentioned that she feels it’s given her “tough skin” because she has adapted to negative comments about her and her family on social media throughout the years.
Riley Burruss also openly admitted that it will initially feel a bit strange no longer being on the show, but when it comes to her mom, she said,
“This will be the time when she will truly be able to go after her dreams.”
