Cam Newton Tells Panthers “Please Do Not Try To Play Me” After They Give Him Permission To Seek A New Team
It’s trade season in the NFL, and shocking announcements are being made regarding a few star players. Longtime New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady recently announced that he was leaving his team, and fans may see the same result with Carolina Panthers quarterback, Cam Newton.

Back in December, Cam went under the knife in repair of an injury to his left foot. After already enduring a shoulder injury last season, he reportedly had friction with the Panthers’ front office.

In shocking news, his team announced today (March 17) that they’re allowing Cam Newton to seek employment on another team’s roster. Their Instagram post read:
“We have given Cam Newton permission to seek a trade”

Cam, however, hints at the announcement being in contradiction with his discussions with the team. He responded:
“STOP WITH THE WORD PLAY i never asked for it THERE IS NO DODGING THIS ONE i love the @panthers TO DEATH AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU GUYS PLEASE DO NOT TRY AND PLAY ME, or MANIPULATE THE NARRATIVE AND ACT LIKE I WANTED THIS, you forced me into this -1OVE”
Meanwhile, Panthers owner and General Manager – Davis Tepper and Marty Hurney – released their own well-wishes to Cam, seemingly cemented the fact that he’s being released.
