Sha’Carri Richardson Sparks Controversy After Liking Shady Tweet About Jamaicans
Does Sha’Carri Richardson have an issue with the Jamaicans?
On Aug. 21, the highly talked-about track star, Sha’ Carri Richardson, returned to the race track for the 100-meter run at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon and placed 9th.
The 21-year-old pulled out of the 200-meter race shortly after but continued to be in good spirits on social media. She wrote Aug. 23,
“Only way from 9th is up! [praying hands Emojis]”

As her post-race interview made its way around the internet, many spectators noticed Jamaican runner Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price, who placed second in the race, laughing and smiling while walking past Sha’Carri Richardson.

After the race, Sha’Carri Richardson was spotted liking a tweet that compared Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price to rapper Lil Wayne.

Days later, Richardson was caught liking a shady tweet about the Jamaican community. It reads,
“Not y’all Jamaicans still talking s*** when y’all gotta walk barefoot to your coconut stand everyday for a living”

Earlier this week, a local hotel in Montego Bay offered Richardson a one-week stay to enjoy some time in Jamaica. The Director of the Takuma Boutique Hotel, Delroy Allen, said the offer was in “the spirit of goodwill” to show that he understands athletes’ challenges.

Richardson seemingly responded by posting a series of pictures from a previous trip to Jamaica with the caption,
“been there, done that”
