Colin Kaepernick Lost A Business Deal Due To His Refusal To Participate In Media Tour
Colin Kaepernick’s dislike of the press appears to have caused him a business deal.
Despite being a household name, Colin Kaepernick, 34, appears to be very selective about the press appearances and interviews he participates in. According to reports, the former quarterback’s selectiveness is the reason he recently lost a business deal. New reports claim that an agreement for Colin Kaepernick’s special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) to acquire a lender focused on underserved borrowers fell through last week.
Colin Kaepernick’s Mission Advancement SPAC was working on purchasing financial services firm The Change Company. However, because Kaepernick reportedly would not participate in public speaking engagements about the pending deal, it was pulled from the table.
The Change Company focuses on expanding access to lending and banking to Black and Latino borrowers and to people living in low-income communities. Allegedly, as part of the rollout plan, executives at The Change Company wanted Kaepernick to appear on ‘Good Morning America’ and show up for other interviews as well. However, the former San Francisco 49ers player didn’t agree with the press request made by the executives, which is reportedly why the deal ultimately collapsed.

Colin Kaepernick doesn’t seem to be too hurt by the deal being stopped. A spokesperson for his Mission Advancement Corporation said that the company operates “with the highest ethical standards” and will
“continue our work while we look for a great fit to merge with in 2022.”
