The Gervonta Davis vs. Rolanda Romero boxing match ended in frightening mayhem.
According to reports, an unidentified “loud disturbance” during the event, held at New York’s Barclays Center late Saturday evening, caused widespread panic, as attendees believed the sound to be gunfire. Reportedly, speculations of an active shooter spread swiftly through the crowd, leaving fans trampling each other as they dashed towards safety.
Tennis champion Naomi Osaka was one of many fans present for the sporting match that ended in trepidation. Sharing details of the moment, she tweeted:

Reports state that fans and Barclays security both believed gunshots had been fired. A boxing sports writer claims that a Barclays security supervisor stated that a man with a gun was present in the main plaza, causing some attendees who’d already left to rush back into the arena.

However a full police investigation into the matter concluded that no shots were fired. Americans everywhere have been on edge as mass shooting incidents continue to plague the country. The scare comes shortly after two mass shootings took place over the past couple of months in Uvalde Texas and Buffalo New York.
Ten individuals were taken to the hospital for minor injuries as a result of the stampede. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
