Kiyan Anthony — Son of Carmelo Anthony & La La — Receives Basketball Scholarship From His Dad’s Alma Mater
Kiyan Anthony just might be following in his father’s footsteps.
The 15-year-old son of star athlete Carmelo Anthony and media personality/actress La La has received a scholarship from Syracuse University, the same institution his father helped win a national championship 20 years ago.
Kiyan, a 4-star shooting guard from Christ the King High School in New York, said via Twitter that he has been promised a spot on the Syracuse team after he graduates in 2025.
In a tweet, he said,
“Beyond blessed to receive an offer from Syracuse University.”
Carmelo Anthony became a legend at Syracuse after his one-and-done 2002–03 season with longtime coach Jim Boeheim, during which he guided the team to a national title. Reportedly, during that season, he averaged 22.2 points and 10 rebounds.
Carmelo Anthony was selected third overall in the controversial 2003 NBA Draft, behind LeBron James and Darko Milicic. He has suited up for the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and most recently the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kiyan is the only child of Carmelo and La La. Following a 21-year marriage, the “Power” actress filed for divorce from the free agent in 2021, citing irreconcilable differences (they wed in 2010). They had already been separated for a few years after he allegedly cheated on her, claims that Carmelo denied.
Kiyan has also reportedly received offers from Memphis, Manhattan, and George Mason.
