Tory Lanez — Petition For Singer’s Guilty Verdict To Be Overturned Receives 24K Signatures

Fans are attempting to use their power to appeal Tory Lanez’s guilty verdict.

As you may know, on December 23, a jury found Tory Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, guilty on all counts of three felony charges — assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence — for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in her feet back in 2020. Reportedly, the Canadian singer/rapper fired shots at fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion as she walked away from an SUV they had been in following a party at Kylie Jenner’s home.

Following the guilty verdict, a fan of the “Say It” singer started a petition on Change.org aimed at freeing Tory from his prison cell. At the time of this publication, the petition has reached over 24,000 signatures of its 25,000 goal.

The person who launched the petition shared a lengthy description of why they’re fighting for Tory Lanez’s freedom. In part, they wrote,

“Tory Lanez was found Guilty of all charges and it is a true miscarriage of justice! The state did not prove that Lanez undoubtedly committed any crime. Reasonable doubt loomed over a 10 day trial as the prosecution was unable to show us that there were not alternative explanations of the events.”

They added:

“A circus of speculation, insufficient evidence, inconsistencies, and drunken memories left us without much moral certainty of any truth.”

The dedicated fan then reflected on their take of events from the trial.

“[Tory] now faces almost 30 years in prison and deportation!!! EJ King is the only witness who gave a clear and concise testimony. We literally witnessed every other testimony filled with inconsistenties and contradictions.”

The petition starter also noted that they’re not trying to “tear down” Megan Thee Stallion

“This petition is not to tear down nor chatise Megan Thee Stallion, but it is about asking our justice system to do the right thing. An the injustice for one of us is an injustice for us all. Simply, the case against Tory Lanez deserves a more thorough investigation. Appeal his case and grant him a fair trial. Help me get the California justice system to do the right thing!!!! Let’s protect our community from injustice.”

Tory Lanez is set to be sentenced on Jan. 27 and faces up to 22 years in prison.
