Jeezy Files Motion For Structured Custody Schedule To Be Set – Accuses Ex-Jeannie Mai Of ‘Gatekeeping’ Their Daughter

Jeezy wants to spend more quality time with his daughter.  

Hip Hop star Jeezy has been unable to spend pre-planned time with his daughter and wants a judge to intervene. According to Radar Online, Jeezy filed a motion for a formal custody agreement to be put in place between him and his reality star wife, Jeannie Mai, to avoid further interference. Jeezy and Jeannie Mai share guardianship of their one-year-old daughter, Monaco, and reportedly, their unofficial visitation schedule is becoming increasingly challenging to adhere to.

The two co-parents seemingly agreed on a temporary plan that they both felt would be best for their daughter throughout the rest of the year (2023) amid the pair’s pending divorce. Still, according to a newly filed court document submitted by Jeezy’s legal team, the idea isn’t working. The South Carolina native is now accusing Jeannie Mai of acting as a “gatekeeper” when it came to him spending quality time with his daughter. Jeezy’s attorney stated,

“The lack of consistency, continuity, and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule is stressful to the child, and it has, as is unfortunately inevitable with all families in transition, created unnecessary tension and confusion regarding not only parenting time but also in regard to each parent’s role and rights when the child is in their respective custody.”

He continued:

“Jeezy said he doesn’t believe Mai acting maliciously or with specific intent to harm his relationship with their child.”

Adding:

“Mai’s interference with Jeezy’s relationship with the child, again, while not generated from or with malicious intent, is nevertheless, causing confusion and tension between the parties and is working to stifle the development of Jeezy’s relationship with the child. As such, it is necessary at this point to separate, structure and clearly define the parties’ temporary legal and physical custody rights and set a parenting time schedule consistent with the best interests of the child.” 

As previously reported the former Bad Boy Records label mate stunned the world when he filed for divorce from his media personality wife in September (2023). Fans quickly speculated the seriousness of the separation after Jeezy was spotted wearing his wedding ring shortly after the announcement. Neither Jeezy nor Jeannie immediately commented, but the petition to permanently close the chapter of their union reportedly noted that the marriage is “irretrievably broken.”

In the following weeks, Jeezy finally broke his silence regarding his decision to part ways with Mai. He released a statement that alluded to his feelings about leaving the marriage and how important his daughter is to him. 

“Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves. During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”

Since the legal demand was just submitted on behalf of the “Put On” performer, the judge has yet to set a date for the requested custody hearing.

Similar to how her divorce news was addressed, Jeannie has yet to respond to the claims of custodial impingement.
