Jennifer Hudson Hesitant To Settle Down With Boyfriend Common
Jennifer Hudson is hesitant to settle down with her boyfriend, Common.
A source told Radar Online that hip hop legend Common’s past relationships with several celebrities and the daytime talk show host’s failed engagement have made her weary of committing to marriage.
They claimed that “after her [Jennifer Hudson] engagement went South” with David Otunga, who called it quits with the American Idol alum in November 2017,
“Jennifer was adamant she would never marry—that it just isn’t in the cards for her. But then Common came into her life and swept her off her feet!”
Before his relationship with Jennifer Hudson, Common reportedly dated several famous women, including Erykah Badu, tennis star Serena Williams, and actress Taraji P. Henson. Then, in November 2021, the rapper and actor split from Tiffany Haddish after one year of dating. Now, the Come Close rapper’s dating history is allegedly another reason why the Dreamgirls actress is not ready to say “I do.”
The insider revealed,
“Common tells Jen despite his past with so many famous women, he’s in the relationship for keeps. But Jen felt that way when she was engaged for nine years, and she doesn’t want to end up with a broken marriage and be back at square one.”
Reports of Common and the EGOT winner dating go back to July 2022, when they were seen having dinner together in Philadelphia. The pair have remained tight-lipped about their romance until January.
On an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Common and Hudson confirmed their relationship status while gushing about each other’s accomplishments.
The Glory rapper opened up about the moment on Today with Hoda & Jenna. The 52-year-old actor and rapper said,
“We had a little fun, and it was great to be on The Jennifer Hudson Show. And you know I felt like, ‘Man, why not just be loving and honest with who I am and who we are?”
Common, born Lonnie Lynn, added,
“I’m a person that is very private, I know what things are sacred. So any relationships I have are not for public consumption, but at the end of the day, on her show we had a good time.”
Common, who has never been married, was asked by Hoda Kotb and Jenna Hager if he believes he’s ready to tie the knot. The And Then We Rise author shared,
“I feel like I have grown and the work that I have done on myself has allowed me to see that I am the marrying type.”
He continued,
“I’m capable and have the capacity. At some point in my life, I may want to do that. I would know when the right time is. For me, everything is divine, like I work from that discernment that when God speaks into your stomach and your heart and into your stomach. So when I feel that, I will communicate that with that person and if she’s feeling that, then that will be that.”
