Blac Chyna Explains Involvement In Wendy Williams Docuseries + Says Controversial Project ‘Was Definitely Necessary To Be Made’

Angela “Blac Chyna” White is opening up about the controversial Wendy Williams docuseries.

The 35-year-old entertainer made an appearance in Lifetime’s “Where Is Wendy Williams?” documentary series that premiered in February. The four-part program received harsh reactions, with many slamming the network for showing Wendy Williams in a vulnerable state. Around the time the media personality’s docuseries aired, her team released a statement revealing she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia sometime in 2023.

According to Blac Chyna, her involvement in the series wasn’t planned. She shared during a recent interview that she “just went over to [Wendy’s] house” the day their moment was captured by cameras, not knowing a filming crew would be there. If you saw their surprise encounter, you may recall Wendy Williams took off her wig and appeared to have difficulties following the conversation with her friend, Blac Chyna.

Despite the way “Where Is Wendy Williams?” was received by the public, Chyna expressed that the project was needed to shine a light on addiction. She said,

“To be honest, I think it was definitely necessary to be made.”

She continued,

“I feel like … people actually do need to see it ’cause it is happening and it can really, honestly happen to anybody, you just never know, and hopefully, maybe this is gonna help other people to see ’cause I’m gonna tell you this, I did start it, it did make me upset ’cause the struggling with the alcohol like that was one of my things struggling with the alcohol.”

Chyna added,

“So to see Wendy, you know, struggling obviously with the alcohol and her substances over the years, you know, it hurts and it’s like the alcohol part with me, so it’s like I can relate to that.”

Chyna celebrated being one year sober in September. In a previously shared heartfelt Instagram post on her sorority, she wrote,

“September 14 , 2023 marks my one-year of sobriety this year taught me a lot about myself. I made up my mind on September 14, 2022 that I was done with the alcohol. This process is not easy but I did it, I plan on continuing practicing sobriety.”

The post continued,

“I’m hoping that when you see this, this will inspire you if you are struggling with any addiction, just know that you can do it and you are worth it.
God loves you. It’s so many different apps, and groups that can help you with this journey, and you’re not alone.”

Toward the end of her interview, the socialite shared that she hadn’t seen Wendy since they filmed for the documentary.
