Flavor Flav Offers Financial Support To Olympic Track & Field Competitor Who Says She Can’t Pay Her Rent
Hip-hop veteran Flavor Flav is continuing to support women athletes competing in this year’s Olympic games.
The rapper made a financial contribution to a collegiate competitor today (Aug. 1), after the athlete shared her struggles to pay rent.

Veronica Fraley, a track and field athlete who competes in the discus throw category, took to X (formerly Twitter) to air out her frustrations about the situation. The 24-year-old wrote in one post:
“I compete in the Olympic Games TOMORROW and can’t even pay my rent my school only sent about 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who haven’t won anything ) enough to buy new cars and houses”

In a follow-up post, she added:
“Thanks for the supporting messages but I want to clarify my irritation isn’t with the school itself, mainly the rules that bar me from making the amount I’m WORTH as a collegiate athlete such as NIL which favors popularity over performance. that’s all I’m sayin. Wish me luck tm!”

Once Flavor Flav caught wind of the matter, he quickly responded to Veronica Farley’s post and pledged to help in whatever way he could. He wrote in one post:
“I gotchu,,, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry bout it TOMORROW,,, and imma be rooting for ya tomorrow LETZ GO,!!!”

Nearly an hour later the reality star, real name William Jonathan Drayton Jr., 65, came back with another message, confirming that he’d been in contact with Veronica Fraley and was making good on his promise. He captioned the post:
“Man of word,,, and Imma try and come by and support you in person tomorrow ,,, LMK what time”

This isn’t the first instance of Flavor Flav standing strong in his support for women athletes at this year’s Paris competitions. As we recently covered, the “Fight The Power” rapper committed to sponsoring the US Women’s Water Polo Team and has appeared in commercials and made significant contributions to boost their chances of taking home the gold.

It also appears that Flavor Flav’s giving spirit has been encouraging other celebrities to get involved. Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian also promised to help Fraley with her financial pinch, offering to split the costs with Flavor Flav and subsequently sharing receipts of his donation to Fraley’s account.
