Numbers Don’t Lie:: Alicia Keys’ “Stick Fly” Disappoints

Three months ago (in November 2011) previews began for the Broadway play “Stick Fly,” which Alicia Keys produced. Since then, the play has received a lot of mixed reviews. The play is about two brothers who bring their girlfriends home to meet the family on the same weekend. This results in competition and rivalry between the siblings. Although the starring actors, Mekhi Phifer and Dule Hill, receive support in their other ventures, this play hasn’t brought either much acclaim at all. On top of that, the play has not done well financially, either (it’s averaged lower than $300,000 per week, while it was predicted to make about $900,000 per week). Because of it’s failure, the play will come to an abrupt close at the end of this month (February 26th). :(
