Here’s the backstory: Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick was given a private workout opportunity, reportedly influenced by Roc Nation founder Jay-z over the weekend (Nov. 16th).
Colin Kaepernick made headlines before the workout started, when he switched locations of the workout. Media personality Nessa Diab, who is also Kaepernick’s long-term girlfriend posted details of the new location stating,
“Mr. Kaepernick request all media be allowed into the workout to observe and film it for their independent film crew to be there to ensure transparency.”

After the workout, Kaepernick spoke to those in attendance.
A source tells XXL that Jay-Z thinks Kaepernick turned a “legitimate workout” into a publicity stunt. In addition to Jay-Z’s alleged opinion, the NFL released a lengthy statement, stating that they
“we are disappointed that Colin did not appear for his workout. Colin’s decision has no effect on his status in the League. He remains an unrestricted free agent eligible to sign with any club.”
