Dr. Dre & Nicole Young Had A Prenup, Rapper Agrees To Pay Spousal Support In Divorce
More details about Dr. Dre and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Nicole Young are coming out a day after she filed for divorce.
Nicole Young, who is an attorney herself, mentioned “irreconcilable differences” when she filed to split from Dr. Dre on June 29. The two were married for 24 years. Her filing says she requested property distribution as well as spousal support, but it did not list the existence of a prenup.
Still, Dr. Dre has now responded to the divorce filing, revealing that they did have a prenup and that they’ve been separated since March 27. Specific details of what is documented in the prenup have not surfaced as of yet.
Dr. Dre has reportedly agreed to pay Nicole Young spousal support but he wants the terms of the prenup to determine how they will divvy up the property they obtained while married. Dr. Dre and Nicole have two adult children together–a 23-year-old son named Truice and a 19-year-old daughter named Truly–so there will be no need to discuss child support.
Dr. Dre has made a significant fortune over the years since he was part of the controversial rap group N.W.A. His empire includes a successful creation of the Beats by Dr. Dre, which was eventually purchased by Apple in 2014 for $3 billion along with the Beats Electronics brand itself. Reportedly, the founder of the Aftermath Entertainment label which sported top rap acts like Eminem and 50 Cent at one time, has a net worth of $800 million. He was the top-earning musician in the 2010s decade.
Neither Dr. Dre nor Nicole have made any official statements regarding their pending divorce. Dr. Dre is being represented by star divorce attorney Laura Wasser and celebrity attorney Samantha Spector will represent Nicole during the proceeding.
