Vanessa Bryant Helped Finish Kobe Bryant’s 2nd Book From His ‘Epoca’ Sports Fantasy Series
The sequel in Kobe Bryant’s Epoca series is set for a December release, and his late wife, Vanessa Bryant helped finish it.
The first book from the series Epoca The Tree of Ecrof: Island of the Gods, was released in November 2019. Kobe Bryant created the series while Ivy Claire serves as the author.
The follow-up, Epoca: The River of Sand, will be released on Dec. 15, 2020.
Ivy Claire saluted Vanessa Bryant and said she played a vital role in the final book of the series getting finished after Kobe Bryant’s shocking and tragic death on Jan. 26th. She told All Access:
“Vanessa was very active in the final draft of ‘River of Sand’ because, obviously, his legacy is more important to her and to her family than anybody else. She was a really great person to collaborate with. She just wanted to make sure that the series ended in a way that did the most justice to his life and his legacy.”
While the first book tells the story of two children with different backgrounds, Pretia and Rovi, who use sports and magic to take over evil, the second follows the young track athletes in their adventures to win the Junior Epic Games.

Kobe Bryant is no stranger to releasing books for young adults. In July, Vanessa Bryant helped release his novel Geese Are Never Swan, and said it helped her navigate through grief.

That book’s description reads:
“In this powerful novel about the punishing and the healing nature of sports, Gus’s rage threatens to swallow him at every turn. He’s angry at his brother, his mother, his coach . . . even himself. But as he works toward his goal and through his feelings, Gus does everything he can to channel this burning intensity into excelling at the sport that he and Danny both loved, and finds solace in the same place he must face his demons: in the water.”
