NFL Player Richard Sherman Arrested For Burglary Domestic Violence – Allegedly Tried To Break Into Home, Fought Police
NFL star Richard Sherman is currently in jail after getting arrested earlier this morning (July 14th).
The free agent was taken into custody in Washington State for “burglary domestic violence.” He is at Seattle’s King County Correctional Facility after being denied bail. The charge he’s up against is a felony so he could get serious time behind bars if convicted.
A spokesman for the Redmond Police Department told ESPN that the denied bail isn’t alarming as it’s a typical ruling for domestic violence suspects until they go before a judge. While the rep didn’t confirm that it was Richard Sherman who was arrested, they said someone called police around 2 a.m. local time. They alleged that an adult family member who didn’t live there was trying to break into the home.
Once police got to the scene, he was outside. He is said to have fought with the police until he was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Once cleared, he was arrested and booked.
No one who was at the home was hurt during the altercation.
Richard Sherman played for the San Francisco 49ers for three seasons with the 2020 season being his last. He played for the Seattle Seahawks for the first seven seasons of his career. He is a free agent and considered a top-tier player as he’s a Super Bowl champion and has been selected for the Pro Bowl five times.
He’s also a vice president of the NFL Players Association’s executive committee. The organization said in a statement,
“We were made aware of an arrest last night of one of our player leaders for an alleged domestic violence incident and have activated our domestic violence crisis protocol for the protection and support of everyone involved. We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us.”
