Update: Amar’e Stoudemire’s Domestic Violence Charges Dropped For Allegedly Assaulting His Daughter After Teenager Did Not Cooperate w/ Investigation
Update: (Feb. 1, 2023): New details have surfaced surrounding Amar’e Stoudemire’s domestic violence charges.
According to reports, the charges against the former NBA player stemming from an alleged domestic violence incident involving his teenage daughter at his Miami home in December have been dismissed. Reportedly, prosecutors dropped the charges because the alleged victim would not cooperate with the investigation.
As previously reported, Stoudemire was arrested for domestic violence after the mother of his children called the police and claimed he beat their teenage daughter. Despite denying the serious allegations, he was briefly detained on one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of domestic violence.
Stoudemire released a statement on the charges being dropped. He said,
“A little over a month ago, my family’s world was turned upside down as I faced allegations that we all knew to be untrue – which I instantly and publicly denied.”
He continued,
“Today, I’m grateful that after a full investigation, all charges were dismissed. Fortunately, my family and most importantly, my incredible children are all doing well. My faith in the goodness we all possess has never wavered and has never been greater. My love for my family is without limits.”
He added,
“I am appreciative of all the respect and support received from family, friends and colleagues. Now that this chapter is closed, I look forward to all the great moments ahead with my family.”

Over the weekend, Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested for domestic violence after the mother of his children, Alexis, called the police claiming he allegedly beat their teenage daughter. On Sunday (Dec. 18), Amar’e Stoudemire was detained on one count of misdemeanor battery and one count of domestic violence. The 40-year-old allegedly struck one of his teenage daughters across her face at least twice with a closed fist, which his daughter described to be a punch followed by a slap. The report claims his daughter was covered in blood from the hits while Stoudemire continued to strike her body after hitting her in the face. The reason behind the incident was that the former Miami Heat player, who has a 17-year-old and 14-year-old daughter, attempted to discipline his daughter after she responded with an attitude to her grandmother, Stoudemire’s mother.

The ex-NBA star was released from custody shortly after taking his mugshot. On Sunday night (Dec. 18) he took to Instagram to break his silence on his arrest claiming he didn’t cause any harm to his daughter. Stoudemire wrote:
“Over the last 24 hours, an incident at the family home led to my being charged with assaulting my daughter. It is an allegation based on a report that does not square with the facts. I am of the Jewish faith, today Jewish people all over the world celebrate Hanukkah and hear the story of how we fought wickedness. I believe that ‘whatever is hateful to you, do not do to others.’ As the investigation unfolds, the facts will show the allegations to be groundless as my daughter’s medical condition is not the result of being assaulted by a father who is nearly 7 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds. I could never see myself assaulting any person, especially my children. I respect, protect, and love my family, particularly my children. As a father, I ask for your grace as we secure our space and privacy.”
