Simone Biles Shades Former Olympic Teammate Who Claimed This Year’s Team USA Gymnasts ‘Don’t Have Work Ethic’
Celebrity gymnast Simone Biles appears to have gotten a little spicy with her recent Instagram post.
The 27-year-old seemingly took a jab at one of her former Olympic teammates, who recently caught some flack over her critical opinions of this year’s Team USA competitors.

Sharing a set of images celebrating her and teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey’s big win in the team category of women’s gymnastics at the Paris games, Simone Biles wrote:
“lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions”

The wording used in the caption has been speculated to be a pointed shot at recent comments made by her ex-teammate MyKayla Skinner. Simone Biles and MyKayla Skinner, 27, competed together for Team USA at the 2020 Olympic games.

Ahead of this year’s competition, however, Skinner faced the wrath of many in the sport’s community after sharing her concerns about this year’s team, stating about the group of women:
“Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be….obviously a lot of girls don’t work as hard…the girl’s just don’t have the work ethic.”

She then posted an “apology” for some things she said, saying they were misinterpreted. #mykaylaskinner #gymastics #olympics
Skinner would go on to formally apologize for her actions, writing in a subsequent post following backlash:
“It was not my intention to offend or disrespect any of the athletes or take away from their hard work…I take full responsibility for what I said and I deeply apologize.”

She additionally appeared to offer another sentiment of peace, reposting the team’s winning picture with a set of heart emojis to her Instagram story.

It doesn’t appear that Biles has said anything further on the matter. However, the most decorated Olympic gymnast of all time did get a co-sign from several of her colleagues, with retired gymnast McKayla Maroney writing:
“It doesn’t get more iconic than this.. She f’d around n found out fr. Feels like I need to apologize just to redeem my first name”

And newly crowned champion Jordan Chiles added:
“and that’s on periodt!!”
