Tyler Perry Provides A Private Plane To Eric Garner’s Mother And Rev. Al Sharpton For George Floyd’s Memorial Service
Rev. Al Sharpton thanked Tyler Perry yesterday (June 4) for providing a private plane for himself and Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner. Gwen Carr and Al Sharpton flew back from Minneapolis where George Floyd’s memorial was being held. The civil rights leader also revealed that Tyler Perry provided plane service for members of George Floyd’s family that live in Texas.
“As I landed back in NYC, @diddy called me about further efforts after viewing the memorial service of George Floyd.
Thank you again to @tylerperry for providing a private plane during this pandemic for Gwen Carr (the mother of Eric Garner) and I to get to and from Minneapolis for the memorial service of #GeorgeFloyd. He also provided plane service for other family members out of Texas.
We must continue to support and stand with the Floyd family in this pursuit of justice.”
Tyler Perry was at the memorial for George Floyd and has been vocal on social media about the recent protests that have surfaced since the murder of Mr. Floyd. The last post that Tyler had addressing the protests, the producer advised his followers to unite with allies of all colors not to blankly judge all police officers as bad. Tyler also thanked Good Morning America for showing positive clips of black people protesting and white allies supporting the cause. He writes:
“Thank you GMA for showing us that there are people out there who are trying to listen. Thank you for showing the world that there were peaceful protests. Thank you for showing black people protesting in peace. Thank you for showing white people and white officers taking a knee and showing the world that some of them are outraged too!!”
As we previously reported, there was a memorial for George Floyd held at North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 4. Alongside Tyler Perry, notable guests included Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, T.I and Tiny Harris, Ludacris, Tyrese, Will Packer, and Regina Hall. Rev. Al Sharpton’s fellow civil rights leaders were also in attendance such as Martin Luther King III and Rev. Jesse Jackson. See the full memorial below.
